Autopsy-Consent Required
Last week, I lost my dear aunt. She lived in Missouri as a homemaker. Upon arrival, I started asking questions to the nature of her untimely death. I was simply told they did not know for sure.
I have a major issue with this. I am a college student working on my degree in Criminal Justice. I have repeatedly been taught that there should always be an autopsy preformed on anyone who has died outside the care of a doctor or hospital, or that is going to be cremated.
To my dismay, I have learned that is is not always true. In the great state of Missouri an autopsy can not be preformed unless consent is given by family, or if family can not be reached friends, or ordered by a public office, under MO statute 194.115…..This is crazy!
I feel these children have the right to know the exact cause of their mothers death for future medical reasons.
